Key Club conducting canned good drive for food pantry

Seymour High School’s Key Club will participate in a project known as Trick-or-Treat for Canned Goods from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Club members will dress up, gather with other club members and go into the community and collect canned goods for Anchor House Family Assistance Center in Seymour.

The goal is to collect enough cans to keep the shelves stocked until at least after Thanksgiving, club Vice President Sydney Berman said.

“Trick-or-Treat for Canned Goods is my favorite because it’s not your traditional trick-or-treat. Instead of candy, you’re getting canned goods, which helps the community,” Berman said.

A year ago, the club collected nearly 4,000 canned goods. This year’s goal is to equal the amount of last year or top it.

Anyone who would like to donate canned goods or nonperishable food items may drop them off between 6 and 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at Seymour High School.
