Franklin College freshman Karen Dringenburg of Seymour recently was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s women’s tennis Freshman of the Year.

Dringenburg helped the Grizzles finish with a 14-2 record this fall, second in the HCAC with a 7-1 record.

The Grizzlies reached the HCAC championship match of the postseason tournament, losing a hard-fought 5-4 match to top-seeded Hanover College on Sunday.

With Melissa Sanders, Dringenburg finished the fall undefeated at No. 1 doubles.

Dringenburg also won all 15 singles matches this fall, including a 7-0 mark in HCAC action.
