SUN CITY CENTER, Fla.

Anne Elizabeth Borges, 88, passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, at her residence in Sun City Center, Florida, with her son, Rick, and her cat, Bella, at her side.

Born Dec. 1, 1926, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Harrison and Isabel Wolpert.

Anne spent her childhood in Baltimore. After marrying Richard L. “Dick” Borges on Nov. 2, 1943, they settled in Seymour, where she owned and operated Anne Borges Real Estate Inc.

Anne lived an exceptional life; and, as she said many times, her adventures allowed her to vastly outlive the body she was given. Though she devoted many years to building a successful business, she also had a passion for traveling, which took her to places such as Russia, China, Thailand and Egypt. She out-rivaled opponents at bridge and even combined that with her travels by teaching bridge lessons on cruise ships, her favorite way to see the world.

Survivors include her son, Richard L. (LaVonne) Borges II; three grandchildren, Rikki (Raymie Younkin) Borges, Shane (Bryan) Apolskis and Elaine Reed; two great-grandchildren, Haley Reed and Hunter Reed; brother, Milton A. “Tom” Wolpert; three sisters, Marsha Weidenhamer, Constance Picillo and Christiana McDonnell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; brother, Charles Wolpert; and sister, Evelyn Stinchcomb.

At Anne’s request, family and friends are invited to celebrate Anne and Dick’s life at an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Elks Lodge 462, 117 E. Second St. in Seymour. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Critter Adoption and Rescue Effort Inc. (C.A.R.E.), 1528 27th St. SE, Ruskin, FL 33570, or the donor’s choice of charity.

Arrangements were handled by Sun City Center Funeral Home in Sun City Center, Florida.
