Tigers drop opener in OT

ORLEANS — Trailing 44-42, Crothersville’s Abby Jewell finished a shot off a rebound with 6.8 seconds on the clock to force overtime at Orleans.

Despite a strong effort, the Bulldogs outscored the Tigers 8-2 in overtime to win the first game of the Henryville Tipoff Tournament.

Down 14-12 after the first quarter, the Tigers scored 15 points in the second period while holding the Bulldogs to 8 to take a 27-23 lead into halftime.

The Tigers struggled to find their offense in the third quarter, notching seven points.

Alexis Adair led the Tigers with 16 points behind a pair of 3-pointers, and Katrina Christian added 13 with two from behind the arc.

The Tigers’ Maddie Riley led her team on the glass with four of the team’s 20 rebounds.

Thursday, the Tigers (0-1) will host Irvington Prep (Indianapolis) in another tournament game.
