Joseph Sigel Waskom, 69, of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, with Jan, his wife of 48 years, by his side.

Born Sept. 17, 1946, in Seymour, he was the son of Howard M. and Ruth Jane Hotchkiss Waskom, both of whom preceded him in death.

He was a 1964 graduate of Brownstown High School followed by graduation from Indiana Business College and Indiana University. He retired as a criminal investigator for the Internal Revenue Service. He was a former member of Brownstown Christian Church and a longtime member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood.

Joe was a member of Free and Accepted Masons at Southport Lodge 270 and a 32nd Degree member of the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis.

Besides spending time with his family, he was an avid walker in the Indianapolis 500 Mini Marathon and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing his harmonica and attending the Indianapolis 500.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Joseph Sigel (Theresa) Waskom II and Jennifer (Adam) Bauer; grandchildren, Joe, Elijah and Bailey Waskom and Aaron Bauer; and sister, Jane Terrell, of Louisville, Kentucky.

A Masonic service and graveside rites will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown for his friends and family to attend.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the donor’s choice of charity.

Arrangements are being handled by Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown.
