Mildred Armstrong, 96, died peacefully Wednesday morning, Nov. 4, 2015, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Born June 24, 1919, in Connersville, she was the daughter of John P. and Ethel Reed. She married Clifford L. Armstrong, who preceded her in death in 1986.

Mildred graduated from Milton High School in 1937. She was manager of the Beverly Shop in the 1950s and secretary for Dr. George Meisenhelder from 1963 to 1977.

After her husband’s death, she worked as a volunteer at Fayette Memorial Hospital/Fayette Regional Health System until she moved to Seymour in 2008. She had been a member of First United Methodist Church in Connersville since 1941.

Survivors include a son, Gerald L. (Sarah) Armstrong of Seymour; a daughter, Pam (Norm) Langhoff of Springfield, Illinois; grandchildren, Gary (Martha) Armstrong, Joel Armstrong, Kate (Dave) Hauser, Erin (Curt) Scheller, Steve (Nikki) Langhoff, Liz Moody and Amy Langhoff; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Isabelle Reed of Richmond.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and a great-grandson.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Urban Winkler Funeral Home in Connersville with Pastor Robert Wyrick officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until time of service Saturday.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Connersville.
