ST. LUCIE, Fla.

Myrtle Imogene Mathews Barrett, 74, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, at her daughter’s home in Freetown.

Born May 15, 1941, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Oliver Brown Mathews Sr. and Roxie Ferry Mathews, both of whom preceded her in death.

She received a technical certificate in nursing and worked as a home health nurse for 25 years.

Survivors include her children, Michael Lynn Beavers, David Beavers, Teresa (Oddis) Freese, Albert Lee Barrett and Myrtle Ellen Giancola; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Oliver Brown Mathews Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, James Phillip; three brothers, George Mathews, Donny Ray Mathews and Albert Wilson Mathews; and two sisters, Eula Gray Donica and Alice King.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel in Seymour with the Rev. Kelly Reed officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
