An officer investigating two vehicles parked along U.S. 50 east of Brownstown during the weekend made three arrests on various criminal charges.

Christopher G. Branaman, 25, of Medora; Jesse D. Burton, 23, of Seymour; and Katherine L. Quade, 46, of Seymour, were arrested on drug and alcohol charges late Friday by Officer Jeff Walters with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

Walters said the arrests occurred as he was patrolling and stopped to check on two vehicles he thought were broken down in the 900 block of U.S. 50 East.

During that investigation, Walters said, he suspected Branaman and Burton both were intoxicated and trying to drive to a Seymour residence.

Walters and county Officer Rick Meyer reported they then found drug paraphernalia on Burton and Branaman and marijuana on Burton.

Branaman and Burton both face charges of operating while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or greater. Burton faces additional charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Quade, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, became argumentative with officers and was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

All three were taken to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown after the incident reported at 10:55 p.m. Friday.
