William J. “Bill” McDonald, 74, of Seymour passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at his home with family at his bedside.

Born Sept. 29, 1941, in Seymour, he was the son of Clarence and Pauline Banks McDonald, both of whom preceded him in death. On Nov. 12, 1966, in Seymour, he married Sandra Field.

Bill was retired from truck driving, having last worked at Wal-Mart Distribution Center. He also owned and operated Bill’s Wrecker Service for 10 years. He had attended The Point church and enjoyed being around old cars, golfing and watching television, especially ballgames. He used to root for IU and anyone that played against Kentucky. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife and grandkids.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sandra; children, Valerie McDonald, Rohn (Robin) Buffington and Joe S. McDonald; sister, Maciva (Norm) Chancey; sister-in-law, Linda McDonald; grandchildren, April Benton, Richard Benton, Kris Buffington, Victoria (Nathan) Phillips, Steven (Erin) Buffington, Joseph Prather McDonald, Justin Buffington, Haley (Ryan Pennington) McDonald and William McDonald; and eight great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary McDonald; and a sister, Sharon Simmons.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour with Pastor Rick Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday.
