SUN CITY, Fla.

Betty J. Wehrkamp Trueblood Lea, 78, of Sun City, Florida, and formerly of Missouri and Seymour, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, in Florida.

Born March 13, 1937, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Walter and Sylvia Hagen Wehrkamp, both of whom preceded her in death. In December 1953, she married Doyle Trueblood. Then in November 1982, in Forsyth, Missouri, she married Wallace Lea, who survives in Florida.

Betty was a very caring and loving person who loved her family and friends. She enjoyed her work, as she was employed with and retired from the United States Department of Agriculture, having worked in Indiana and Iowa.

Besides her husband, Wallace, survivors include a son, Mike (Peggy) Trueblood; two daughters, Michele Thompson and Stacey Defoor; a stepson, John (Sue) Lea; a stepdaughter, Sue Smith; five grandchildren, Carrie (Steve) Lawson, Christy Fields, Melissa Mellencamp, Tyler (Rebekah) Thompson and Travis (Sydney) Thompson; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronnie (Shannon) Wehrkamp and Roger (Julie) Wehrkamp; a sister, Jan Robinson; a sister-in-law, Angie Wehrkamp; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny Wehrkamp and Floyd Wehrkamp; and a brother-in-law, Steve Robinson.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a time to reflect and share from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Surprise Christian Church, 6382 N. County Road 100W, Seymour.

The family asks that all memorials be made to Surprise Christian Church or the donor’s charity of choice through Voss and Sons Funeral Service, 316 N. Chestnut St., Seymour, IN 47274.

A private graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Rick Grant at a later date.
