St. Peter’s Ladies Aid November Meeting

The Ladies Aid of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church met Nov. 5 in the Brownstown church’s meeting room.

The Rev. Jeffrey Patterson opened the meeting by talking about Jerusalem and then leading the group in singing “Jerusalem, My Happy Home.”

Eleven members answered roll call.

The secretary and treasurer reports were both read and approved.

Kathy Cunningham reported on flowers for the altar in October.

Ileen Nehrt visited the sick and shut-ins and the nursing homes in October. She baked cookies and visited several people.

Joyce Stuckwisch reported there was a large supply of spices for sale.

The Christmas party will be at noon Dec. 3 in the church meeting room. The meal will be catered, and each member attending will pay $5. Extra expenses will be paid by the Ladies Aid. Everyone is to bring soup and crackers for the food pantry.

The group voted to pay for a chair-high commode for the downstairs women’s bathroom.

The group will serve cookies and drinks after the Dec. 9 Advent service. Each member is to bring two dozen cookies. Cunningham and Frances Nichols will serve.

Officers and committees for 2016 are president, Cunningham; vice president, Bertie Roettger; secretary, Janet Myers; treasurer, Stuckwisch; food pantry, Rose Elmer and Bonnie Duffy; altar flowers, Cunningham and Roettger; and funeral committee, Nehrt and Cunningham.

Hostess for the meeting was Stuckwisch. The meeting closed with The Lord’s Prayer.
