Yule log celebration planned at Paynetown

0

Decorate and burn a Yule log, light the Yule candles and partake of hot cider and Yule log cake during Monroe Lake’s second annual Yule Log Celebration on Dec. 20 at Paynetown State Recreation Area.

The Yule log is one of the oldest ways to celebrate the winter solstice and the Christmas season. Participants will delve into history and tradition during this outdoor program. The program includes a short, off-trail hike.

The cost is $5 per person. There are two program times available, and the content is the same at each session. Sign up for the 1 p.m. program at bit.ly/yulelog2015-1, or the 3:30 p.m. program at bit.ly/yulelog2015-2.

Registration is required by Dec. 16, and each session is limited to 20 people.

The program is not recommended for children younger than 5, people with mobility and/or health issues that may be stressed by spending 90 minutes outside in potentially cold weather.

Entrance to Paynetown at 4850 S. State Road 446, Bloomington, is free during the winter months.
