Solid 2nd half lifts Cougars to victory
SHELBYVILLE
Trailing Southwestern (Shelby) 21-20 at halftime, Trinity Lutheran scored 20 points in each of the final two quarters of Saturday’s road game to win 60-52.
The Cougars outscored the host team by five points in the third quarter and four points in the fourth quarter to pull off the win and improve to 4-2.
A big difference in the game was Trinity going 26 of 37 from the free-throw line compared to Southwestern’s 10 of 18.
Trinity was led by Maddie Roark’s season-high 26 points, which included a pair of 3-pointers and going 10 of 12 from the free-throw line. Whitney Rogers contributed nine points and six rebounds, while Abby Hackman pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with eight points.
Annie Coy led the Spartans (6-2) with 17 points, and Madison Van Gorden added 11.
