Steven C. Davers, 70, of North Vernon, passed away Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Born April 30, 1945, in Freetown, he was the son of Robert Davers and Beatrice Stafford Davers, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Janet Scott Romaine, who preceded him in death on Aug. 31, 2013. They were married for 27 years.

He was a member of the Baptist church in North Vernon and a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Rock Well Automotive in Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing, farming and attending to his cattle. He supported several charities.

Survivors include sons, Mark A. (Debbie) Goodin of Terre Haute, James D. Davers of Jonesville, and Damon D. (Shelly) Davers of Vernon; daughters, Deborah K. (Marino) Caraballo of Greenwood, and Lynetta K. (Michael) Porter of North Vernon; sisters, Charlotte (Leon) Ross of Seymour, and Margaret Lawson of Brownstown; grandchildren, Cody O. Goodin, Nathan T. Goodin, Nichole M. Goodin, Michael S. Porter, James O. Porter, Autumn D. Booth, Kacy D. Supple, Riley E. Canner, Anthony M. Caraballo, Amanda D. Caraballo, Noah J. Davers, Camron L. Davers, Damon D. Davers II, Jordan (Cassidy) Horth, Steven C. Davers III and Emily Deckard; and nine great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Davers Jr.; grandson, W. Levi Miller; and brothers Robert Davers, Jack Davers and Jimmy Dean Davers.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main St., Edinburgh.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
