Marilyn “Nanny” Collins, 74, of Columbus, died at 5:20 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at her residence.

Born Aug. 5, 1941, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Noble E. and Kathryn Weddell Nowland. On Jan. 1, 1959, she married James Warren Collins, who passed away July 25, 1987.

Marilyn studied and received an associate degree as a dietitian. She had worked in local factories and enjoyed long walks, animals, meeting and visiting people and shopping for shoes.

Survivors include her companion, Bert Held; two daughters, Leisa Collins and Beverly (Gerald) Brooks; three grandchildren, Curtis James Abel, Julie Machelle Wilson and LaJeanna Paige (Jason) Collins-Nuckolls; two great-grandchildren, Waylon Kane and Maddie Elaine; three brothers, Samuel (Judith) Nowland, Noble Ernest (Carol) Nowland and John Nowland; and a sister, Linda (Roger) McGill.

She was preceded in death by three infant children, James, Barbara and Randal David; a brother, Robert Dale Nowland; and a granddaughter, Shaylee Alexandra Zike.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown with Pastor Jack Belk officiating.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until time of service Saturday.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
