Donald Werskey, 84, of Seymour, passed away at 8:24 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at Schneck Medical Center with his family by his side.

Born Dec. 4, 1930, in Vernon, he was the son of John Werskey and Emma Simpson Werskey Heideman, both of whom preceded him in death. On Oct. 21, 1951, at Cortland Christian Church by the Rev. George Florence, he married Betty M. Flinn, who survives.

Donald was a member of First Wesleyan Church. He worked for Dr Pepper Co. for 21 years, Hukill Oil Co. for 10 years and Jackson County Bank for 10 years until he retired. He then was a greeter at Walmart Supercenter for six-and-a-half years. He drove a Sunday school bus for First Church of the Nazarene for 33 years.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty; children, Mark Werskey, Bruce (Karen) Werskey and Cinda (Larry) Foist; grandchildren, Matthew Werskey, Gloria (Christopher) Schrader, Stacy Foist, Brittney (Aaron) Mang, Bryce Werskey and Brooke Werskey; three great-grandchildren, Dakota and Samuel Schrader and Gabriel Hounshel; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Frank Heideman; an infant son, Dana; and three brothers, George, Paul and Richard Werskey.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel in Seymour with the Rev. Carl Ubel and the Rev. Ira Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
