Throwback Thursday for Dec. 3

During the early 1950s, the Seymour Eagles Aerie sponsored a small bore rifle team.

A group of shooting enthusiasts built a 50 foot small bore range in the basement of the Eagles’ building on East Second Street.

This picture shows five members of the team at a match. back row, from left, Jim Endicott, Willard Nichter, and Aaron (Red) Salee. Paul Cooper and Tom Conner are the kneeling riflemen.

Other members of the team were Bun Bruce, Bob Buhner, Glen Culp, Willie Hobson, Jack Hoke, Clyde Jerrell, Roland Kelsch, Jesse Kling, Bill Merrill, Mike Nichter, Ralph Schumann and Don Winn.

The team competed in indoor and outdoor matches throughout Indiana in such venues as Jasper, Anderson, Shelbyville, Muncie and Indianapolis.
