Southern Indiana Center for the Arts will be winding down the year with several classes this month.

“We know everyone is busy, but we have a few classes with projects that would make nice Christmas gifts,” director Darnell Dukes said.

On Tuesday, there will be sessions of a class involving the painting of wine glasses or water goblets. Participants may sign up for the time slot that best suits their schedule between 1 and 6 p.m. Each student will paint two glasses and have several patterns from which to choose. Cost of $25 covers all supplies. For SICA members, the cost is $20.

On Dec. 12, Peggy Boyd will conduct morning and afternoon classes for those who want to try their hand at weaving. The morning session project, from 8 a.m. to noon, is a lighted angel. Cost is $56. From 1 to 5 p.m., participants will be weaving a basket featuring a Christmas tree. Cost is $30. Participants may sign up for either session or both. There is no member discount for this class.

Preschool art for ages 3 to 5 will be Dec. 17. Children will create elf hats and Christmas trees. Parents must stay with their child. Preschool classes have lots of painting and hand building and repetition fun. Sessions will be from 10 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 2 p.m. Cost is $15 per class with no SICA membership discount.

“We’ve Gone Wild,” an acrylic class for ages 8 and up, will be from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 22 and from 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 30. The painting will be on an 8-by-10 canvas. Cost of $12 covers all supplies. SICA member cost is $10. Subject choices include zebra, elephant, monkey, hippopotamus, giraffe and lion.

All class sizes are limited, so you should call early to make sure you can get in the class you want. SICA is at 2001 N. Ewing St., Seymour.
