Crews will mill lanes on U.S. 50

Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance personnel from the Bloomington Subdistrict will provide traffic control for a moving milling operation impacting both lanes of U.S. 50 this week between State Road 135 in Jackson County and State Road 446 in Lawrence County.

Mid-America Milling Co. of Jeffersonville has been contracted to grind down surface locations where aggregate loss has created a number of small areas with a low coefficient of friction. The milling will restore surface friction to those areas.

Operations are slated from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

INDOT maintenance crews will provide flagging, trucking and clean-up services for the milling operation.

Motorists may encounter brief delays at work sites and should be especially attentive while traveling between Medora and State Road 446 where curves and hills provide sight-distance challenges.
