Constance E. Shelton, 91, of Bedford, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2015, at White River Lodge Healthcare in Bedford.

Born Dec. 20, 1923, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Leo and Lula Edwards Nance, both of whom preceded her in death. On Oct. 8, 1949, she married Vincent E. Shelton, who preceded her in death.

Constance loved her family above all things. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting. She was formerly a member of Vallonia United Methodist Church. Until Thanksgiving Day, she lived at Cambridge Square Apartments. She loved her friends and acquaintances.

Survivors include her daughter, Peg (Tony) Reitman of Mitchell; grandson, Marshall Roe of Norristown, Pennsylvania; sister, Martha Wheeler of North Vernon; sisters-in-law, Frances Shelton and Elaine Shelton of Seymour, and Vivian Bowers of Vallonia; and many beloved family members.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, David; and brothers, Clyde, Robert and Richard Nance.

A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mitchell. A luncheon will follow the service.
