Athletics accomplishments: In basketball: Sectional title in 2011, most valuable player award in 2010 and 2011. In cross-country: Most valuable runner award in 2009 and 2010.

College: Purdue University

Sports in college: FarmHouse Fraternity intramural athletics

Major: Farm management; minor in crop science and ag systems management

Who or what got you into sports?

“My parents. I always played sports with my brothers and cousins outside growing up until we were old enough to start playing in town.”

What is your favorite memory of high school sports?

“Beating Orleans at Orleans for the sectional title in 2011.”

What was your biggest accomplishment and why?

“Making it to the regional championship in basketball our senior year. We had seven seniors on the team that played very well together, and it was fun to end the season with some big wins. It was a great group of friends and coaching staff that made the experience possible.”

Why did you choose to participate in sports in college?

“The camaraderie, a way to stay in shape and for fun”

Are you still involved in sports today?

“I help coach Immanuel Lutheran’s sixth-grade basketball team.”

How did sports affect your life?

“They helped me develop traits, such as leadership, responsibility and teamwork, that have benefited me throughout college and my career.”

Do you have any advice for kids about getting involved in sports?

“Tough it out. It won’t always be fun, but the friends, success and characteristics you will develop through sports will outweigh the temporary frustrations of injuries, lack of playing time, etc.”

Do you have any hobbies?

“Farming and watching Purdue athletics”

“Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers and Cincinnati Reds”

“Karl Malone”
