SEYMOUR

Geneva Lucille Allen, 94, of Seymour, passed away at 4:25 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at Covered Bridge Health Campus.

Born Oct. 2, 1921, in Xenia, Illinois, she was the daughter of Carl and Dora Leonhard Heicher, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Carroll L. Allen on Aug. 28, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death Nov. 21, 2007.

Mrs. Allen was a graduate of Kinmundy High School, Kinmundy, Illinois and Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri. Before her marriage, she was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance and Martin Peper Martin Law Firm in St. Louis. After she and her husband moved to Seymour, she worked at Ben Franklin Distribution Center.

Mrs. Allen was a member of First United Methodist Church in Seymour. She enjoyed playing golf, traveling and playing bridge.

She is survived by her six children, Joyce (Robert) Kauke of Seymour, Janet Murphy of Shelbyville, Illinois, Judith (Barry) Gilbert of Rochester, Minnesota, Jane (Craig) Wehrli of Olympia, Washington, Bruce (Diane) Allen of Gig Harbor, Washington and Julia Karnstedt of Libertyville, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; brother-in-law, Gordon Allen of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and sister-in-law, Edna Heicher of Greenville, South Carolina.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Leonard, Merle, Orville and Herman Heicher; a sister, Eva Weiss; and two sons-in-law, Michael Murphy and Hans Karnstedt.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
