Robert Lee Sons, 84, of Seymour, passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at his residence.

Born Aug. 1, 1931, in Medora, he was the son of Frank “Nick” and Mabel Shelton Sons. On Jan. 11, 1953, in Brownstown, he married Betty Aynes, who survives.

Bob served in the United States Army after high school. He retired after 35 years from Mitchell and Stark Construction. He was a member of the Labors and Hod Carriers Union in Indiana.

Bob enjoyed gardening, fishing, family cookouts and dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Others survivors beside his wife of almost 63 years, include children, Mike (Kathy) Sons, Tom (Lois) Sons, Patty Sons, Debbie Sons, Katie Gray, Melissa Johnson and Tina Denton; 27 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in son, Allen Sons; brothers, Clyde, Jack, James, Alvie “Perk”, Morris, Melvin, Bill and Danny; sisters, Lois Benton and Louise Gibson.

Cremation was chosen and no formal services will be held at this time. A family gathering will take place at a future date.

Memorials may be made to the Robert Sons Memorial Fund.
