Brownstown church plans Christmas Eve service

Brownstown United Methodist Church, at the corner of Poplar and Walnut streets, will conduct a Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The public is invited to the program, which will consist primarily of music and Scripture readings.

A prelude, “Christmas Eve Memory,” will be played by Jan Willey, pianist, and Madge Fountain, organist.

The church choir will sing “Come to Bethlehem,” “A Simple Stable,” “For Unto Us a Child Is Born,” “Innkeeper” and “Do You Hear What I Hear?”

Readers will include Pastor Kevin L. Stiles, Joe Persinger, Bob Riggs and Judy Persinger.

The congregation will join in singing “Angels from the Realms of Glory,” “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” and “Angels We Have Heard on High.”

The service also will include a children’s music special and will conclude with the lighting of candles while the choir and congregation sing “Silent Night.”

Choir members include Lucinda Lewis, Carol Persinger, Belva Ayers, Judy Persinger, Kevin Stiles, Bob Riggs, Joe Persinger, David Willey, Jerry Banks and Tom Persinger. Jan Willey is director.
