A local church plans to offer Financial Peace University courses beginning next month in the Seymour area.

The nine-week course will begin at 5 p.m. Jan. 10 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 605 S. Walnut St., Seymour.

Financial Peace University is operated by syndicated columnist Dave Ramsey and is designed to teach families and individuals how to handle their money through common-sense principles and small-group accountability.

Lessons include budgeting, relationships and money, getting out of debt, saving for emergencies and investing. After each lesson, the group meets in smaller groups to help and encourage each other, plan budgets and discuss successes and temptations.

Space is limited. The cost of each of the three classes is $93 for a kit that includes a workbook, textbooks, forms and access to information on the Financial Peace University website.
