David E. Jackson, 63, of North Vernon passed away at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born Feb. 9, 1952, in Hamilton, Ohio, he was the son of Kermit and Rhinous Smith Jackson, both of whom preceded him in death. On Oct. 4, 1970, in Holton, he married Norma Angel, who survives.

David was a 1970 graduate of Jennings County High School and worked as a supervisor and setup man for Martinrea (formerly Arvin Industries) in North Vernon, retiring in April 2014 after 44 years with the company. He was a member of Commiskey Baptist Church, where he served as trustee for seven years. He also was past president of Jennings County Little League Baseball.

His enjoyments were fishing and watching NASCAR (he was a Jeff Gordon fan), and he especially enjoyed watching his grandson’s baseball team play and spending time with his family.

Other survivors include his sons, Brian (Jennifer) Jackson of Sellersburg and Darin Jackson of Indianapolis; a brother, Mike (Sue) Jackson of Hayden; and grandchildren, Cody and Gavin Jackson, both of Sellersburg, and Luke and Logan Jackson, both of Indianapolis.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Commiskey Baptist Church with the Rev. Bart Smith and the Rev. Jerry Begley officiating. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of service today.

Memorials may be made to New Albany Lightning Baseball Team.
