Exchange Club Youth of the Month for November

Mason McClure of Brownstown was named November 2015 Youth of the Month by the Brownstown Exchange Club during a recent meeting.

The Brownstown Central High School senior was introduced by club member and Youth of the Month committee chairman Kevin Gwin.

McClure is a member of National Honor Society and currently is serving as student council vice president, captain of the Math Academic Team and president of Brownstown Teen Tutors.

He was a member of the tennis team for three years and was named to the all-county tennis team his junior year.

His honors and awards include 2015 D.A.R.E. Role Model, 2015 Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award, 2015 Alexander Christian Outstanding Christian Student Award, 2015 Hoosier Boys State delegate, 2015 Mr. BCHS, 2014 Richard G. Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow’s Leaders attendee and 2013 Freshman of the Year.

He is a member of Brownstown Christian Church, where he has assisted with the summer lunch program, led activities at Hilltop Christian Camp, assisted with vacation Bible school and is a member of the youth praise band.

He has been a volunteer at Schneck Medical Center and Hoosier Christian Village.

McClure told club members he plans to attend either Purdue University or Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and major in mechanical engineering.

His parents, Doug and Tina McClure, attended the meeting.

Brownstown Exchange Club meets at 7 a.m. Tuesdays at Michie’s Diner, 216 W. Commerce St., Brownstown. Visitors are welcome.
