VERSAILLES — The Crothersville boys basketball team finished in eighth place at the South Ripley Tournament in a 78-61 loss to South Dearborn on Wednesday.

Both teams netted 21 points in the opening quarter, but the Knights would take a 38-34 lead into halftime.

Up 56-48 after 24 minutes of play, the Knights exploded for 22 points in the fourth quarter to take the win.

Eli Mollet led Crothersville with 29 points on 10 field goals while going seven-for-seven from the free throw line.

Tyler Luedeman recorded 16 points for the Tigers.

“I thought at times we played well,” Tigers coach Greg Kilgore said. “I thought South Dearborn was much improved from last year. Now, we’re doing better scoring and cutting down turnovers.

“All-in-all, I was relatively pleased, just not with the outcome. We had some young guys playing some good minutes. We’re starting to look at some of our freshmen and sophomores to play some more minutes in the next few games.”

The Tigers (1-11) will host Cannelton on Friday.
