Ruth Everage Ellis of Brownstown, passed away at 5:15 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Born March 23, 1929, in Busy, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Farmer Campbell and Lillie Bell Campbell, both of whom preceded her in death. On Oct. 28, 1995, at Brownstown United Methodist Church, she married Lester C. Ellis, who preceded her in death.

She has lived in Jackson County since 1972.

Ruth attended Brownstown United Methodist Church and was retired. The last place she worked was at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown as a nurse’s aide. For several years, she was a foster grandparent at the Brownstown Elementary School.

Survivors included a daughter, Phyllis Keefer of Marion, Ohio; a son, Kenneth Everage of Medora; a brother, Lonnie Campbell of Chicago; a grandson, Steven Everage of Seymour; and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Berlin Everage; her second husband, Lester Ellis; and numerous brothers and sisters.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home with Terry Fordice officiating. Burial will take place at Uniontown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday.

Memorials may be given to American Diabetes Association, Brownstown United Methodist Church or to the Community Church of Brownstown.
