Opal Mae Pray, 84, of Seymour, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015 at her home.

Born May 23, 1931, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Floyd and Murial Blair Sovern, both of whom preceded her in death. She lived in Jackson County her whole life. On April 7, 1951, in Jackson County, she married Robert Pray who preceded her in death July 23, 2009.

Opal was a 1949 graduate of Clearspring High School. She once worked at the canning factory and Grote Manufacturing and was a homemaker. She attended Seymour Christian Church. She was involved in a breast cancer survivor support group, loved to sew, knit, camping, IU basketball, attending sporting events of her grandchildren and just enjoyed being a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Duane (Lisa) Pray of Brownstown; grandchildren, Sasha Norman, Tyler Pray, Layton Pray, Brooke Stein and Jordan Young; and great-grandchildren, Finley Stein and Reace Norman.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four bothers, Jesse Sovern, Stanley (Todd) Sovern, Robert Sovern and Kenneth Sovern; and a sister, Bessie Henderson.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown with the Rev. Bill Weaver officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday.

Memorials may be made for breast cancer awareness.
