Mary Jane Smith, 62, of Seymour passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, at home with her three favorite things — her family, her animals and Christmas.

Born Nov. 1, 1953, in Scottsburg, she was the daughter of George Gladden and Ruby Miller Gladden Burke, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Randolph “Randy” Smith III on Feb. 21, 1971, in Seymour. He survives.

Mary graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis and went on to obtain an associate degree in accounting from Ivy Tech Community College. She worked as an accountant at Bowling Transport. She was an animal caretaker and enjoyed bowling, watching birds and squirrels and enjoyed playing cards with the Seymour Euchre Club.

Other survivors include two sons, Randolph “R.J.” (Kelly) Smith IV, Adam Wade (Trish) Smith; brothers, Robert (Julie) Gladden, Kevin (Maretta) Burke and David Brantley; and sisters, Sharon Wilson and Lisa Snider.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Veronica Smith; sister, Judy Hall; father-in-law, Randolph “Smitty” Smith II; and mother-in-law, Ethel G. Smith.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Voss Chapel with the Rev. Keith Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from noon until time of service Tuesday.
