Comment period for Lake Monroe master plan ending

The Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District is accepting public comments on updating the Lake Monroe master plan.

The deadline for comments to be received is Jan. 14.

The purpose of the plan is to provide guidance for the preservation, conservation, restoration, maintenance, management and development of project lands, waters and associated resources. It evaluates the present use and future potential of resources and recommends strategies for the future management and development of those resources. Updates are typically made every five years.

Comments need to be emailed to Shannon Phelps at [email protected] or sent by mail to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Middle Wabash Area Office, 1620 E. Monroe Dam Court, Bloomington, IN 47401-8798.

The Monroe Lake dam is located on Salt Creek in Monroe County approximately 11 miles south of Bloomington and 13 miles upstream from the confluence of Salt Creek and East Fork White River near Bedford.
