Wilma J. Swengel, 93, of Seymour, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Born March 4, 1922, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Ernest and Martha Beikman Rhoads, both of whom preceded her in death. On Dec. 4, 1943, she married Lester W. Swengel, who preceded her in death July 24, 1986.

Wilma was a graduate of Shields High School. She was a former member of Reddington Christian Church, where she was active with the missionary group, funeral dinner committee and church choir. She most recently was a member of Ogilville Christian Church. She also was a former member of Sweet Adelines of Columbus.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Rosen, Deborah (Les) Roettgen and Kathy (Barty) Moffett; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Ellen Crump; and five nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, James Crump; a son-in-law, Michael Rosen; and a sister, Lois Rhoads.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel in Seymour with the Rev. Martin Wright officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday.
