Raymond Earl Reynolds, 77, of Brownstown passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at his home.

Born Oct. 20, 1938, in Brownstown, he was the son of Orville and Alga Goodpaster Reynolds, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 1, 1961, in Heilbronn, Germany, he married Marlise Schell, who survives.

Raymond was a member of Brownstown Christian Church and was employed at Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus and Seymour Tubing.

He served 20 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as master sergeant E-8. He survived two tours in Vietnam and was a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade (Sky Soldiers) and an explosive ordinance disposal specialist.

He enjoyed driving his Camaro while listening to classic country music, going to the Waffle House with his family, helping neighbors with repairs and playing the harmonica.

Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Marty Reynolds of Brownstown and Mark Reynolds of Tampico; two daughters, Patricia Sovern of Brownstown and Tina Reynolds of Los Angeles; a brother, Daymond (Maggie) Reynolds; four grandchildren, Christina Mathisen, Amanda Sovern, Randi Wechsler and Ciara Oakes; and seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Mathisen, Jackson Mathisen, Beckett Mathisen, Brooke Wechsler, Chloe Wechsler, Dana Oakes and Gabe Oakes.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard L. Reynolds, Glen Reynolds, James F. Reynolds and Ronald L. Reynolds; and two sisters, Lois Rochner and Doris Bowman.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown, with Brian Richard officiating. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of service Thursday.
