Susie E. “Sue” Hattabaugh, 79, of Medora, passed away at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at her home with her family by her side.

Born Jan. 12, 1937, she was the daughter of Henry and Mabel Baughman Cockerham, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 26, 1955, she married Joe R. Pferrer who preceded her in death on June 20, 1986. On Dec. 27, 1986, she married William “Ed” Hattabaugh, and he preceded her in death May 2, 2015.

Sue was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church at Medora. She grew up and lived in Jackson County her entire life. She graduated from Medora High School. She worked for Brownstown Central School Corp. as a cook for 25 years. Sue enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, mowing and any other outdoor activities. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include children, Robert J. Pferrer and Donna J. (Kevin) Loudermilk; stepchildren, Betty (Tom) Harding and Marcia Anderson; grandchildren, Benjamin A. (Natasha) Miller and Jamie R. (Ryan) Grinstead; three stepchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; 24 stepgreat-grandchildren, and three great-great-stepgrandchildren. A great-grandchild is due to arrive in March.

She was preceded in death by a son, David A. Pferrer; a grandson, Tyler J. Pferrer; and two brothers, Tom and Neal Cockerham.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Medora, with the Rev. Jerry Roberts officiating. Burial will take place at White River Valley Cemetery, Medora.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at church.

Memorials may be made to Mount Zion United Methodist Church, White River Valley Cemetery or Hospice of Schneck Medical Center.
