Mary Louise “Lou” Beatty Leahy, 94, of Evansville, formerly of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, with her family by her side.

Born April 12, 1921, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Oscar and Lois Casey Beatty, both of whom preceded her in death. On May 12, 1945, at Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas, she married J. Robert Leahy on the same day he became a second lieutenant. He survives.

She attended elementary and high school in Seymour and then attended a local business college. She met her husband while working as a secretary at Freeman Field Post Headquarters in Seymour. Mary Louise was a member of Alpha Beta chapter of Psi Iota Xi sorority and the ladies auxiliary for many years.

Besides her husband of more than 70 years, other survivors include children, Patricia L. (Daniel) Beimesche, Kathryn L. (Michael) Wayne, Michael Leahy, Thomas (Peggy) Leahy and David (Beth) Leahy; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Beatty.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service.
