Dorothy K. Burkhart, 86, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at Covered Bridge Health Campus.

Born Nov. 5, 1929, in Muncie, she was the daughter of Lee and Sylvia Cunnington Kingery, both of whom preceded her in death. On Aug. 27, 1947, in Petersburg, she married Frank Burkhart, who survives.

Dorothy was a member of Reddington Christian Church. She was an amazing homemaker to her daughter and husband throughout the years. Being with her grandchildren made her very happy. Dorothy retired as a bookkeeper and then joined her husband as he traveled with his trucking business. Outside of her family activities, Dorothy enjoyed a good game of bingo, playing bridge with her club and being a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha.

Other survivors include her grandchildren, Joanna (Tony Kidd) Goens and Franklin A. Bishop; four great-grandchildren, Geddy M. Goens, Garth F. Goens, Gavin G. Goens and Tyler F. Bishop; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Leondra K. Burkhart; sisters, Mary Ellen Williamson and June Jones; and an infant grandson, Tony Bishop.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Voss Chapel. Burial will be at Ackeret’s Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday.
