Jesse L Boyer, 82, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at Lutheran Community Home.                     

Born Jan. 21, 1934, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Steve and Fannie Lowman Boyer, both of whom preceded him in death.  He married Carol S. Persinger on June 22, 1957, in Brownstown, and she survives in Seymour, where they had lived since 1958.

In 1937, the family moved to the Waymansville area, where Jesse attended grade school and was a graduate of Columbus High School.

On Dec. 3, 1953, he was drafted into the army and took basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and advanced training at Fort Eustis, Virginia. He went on to serve 18 months in Korea in the 712th Railway Transportation Corp.

Jesse retired from Osram Sylvania in 1997 and previously had worked at H.O. Canfield Co. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Jeffrey (Anita) Boyer, Brian Boyer, Susan (Roger) Wehmiller and Beth (Glenn) Peters; eight grandchildren, Jason (Monica) Boyer, Ben (Nicole) Boyer, Mike (Maureen) Boyer, Julie (Jared) Stahl, Greg Wehmiller, Brittany (Brian) Redmon, Jennifer (Joshua) Sawyer and Nathan Peters; a stepgrandson, James Brown; four great-grandchildren, Macey Sawyer, Thomas Boyer, Parker Redmon and Max Sawyer; three sisters, Shirley (Gary) Wood, Eva LaFever and June McFeeters; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Frank, Bill, Mack and Art Boyer; and two sisters, Goldie Chambers and Louise Smith.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Voss Chapel and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.
