FREETOWN

Meredith Edgar Payne, 82, of Freetown, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Rosemond Sanders Payne; two sons, Meredith Joseph Payne of North Vernon and Mark Stephen (Tabitha) Payne of Seymour; two daughters, Margaret Agnes (Lonnie) Waggoner of North Vernon and Melody Ruth Jones of Freetown; two sisters, Janice White of Columbus and Lyn Hamilton of Seymour; two brothers, Tom Van Arsdale of North Vernon and Robert Lee “Bobbie” of Indiana; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Michaelle Lyn Jones.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Woodlawn Freetown Funeral Chapel.

Visitation will be from noon until time of service.
