Leap year birthday celebration planned

The Bicentennial Planning Committee of Jackson County plans to conduct a special birthday party for those who were born on Feb. 29.

This party will give recognition to those lucky or unlucky people who were born on a day which occurs only once every four years and happens to fall during the bicentennial year for Brownstown, Jackson County and the state.

The committee has been collecting names of “leap year babies” for more than a year. In an effort to not overlook anyone, the committee is asking for the public’s help in finding more people with leap year birthdays.

If someone you know was born on Feb. 29, contact the committee by Feb. 20 at 812-358-5859 or tinyurl.com/ jacksoncountyleapday and leave contact information. Formal invitations will be sent to the celebrants.

The party for celebrants and their guest will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 29 at the Bicentennial Planning Committee of Jackson County’s headquarters, 202 S. Main St., Brownstown.
