Doris J. Whipker, 87, of Columbus passed from this life at 8:57 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at Columbus Regional Health.

Born April 16, 1928, in Somerset, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Robert and Mary Ringler Baldwin, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Carl Marshall Whipker on April 17, 1960.

Doris was a kind and generous friend and a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She was formerly employed at Irwin Union Bank, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Repp & Mundt Inc. and several area grocery stores.

A nephew, Robert Reed of Pennsylvania, survives along with her husband of 55 years.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Phyllis Reed and Shirley Stutzman.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home, 1029 Washington St., Columbus, with the Rev. Mark Teike officiating. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday.
