Ohio group planning youth issues event

A group of high school students from the Cincinnati area is planning performances of the musical drama, “Dead Serious … About Life,” at 6 p.m. Feb. 20 and 3 p.m. Feb. 21 at Brownstown Elementary School.

The Mishpachah group features 28 teenagers reaching out to help other teens through the portrayal of issues teens face, from pregnancy to suicide to drugs to the divorce of parents. Mishpachah is a Hebrew word that means family or clan.

The group, which consists of teens from 21 school districts and 23 different churches, combines drama with music in hopes of reaching those who have a need to talk, according to a news release.

Brownstown Christian Church, Driftwood Christian Church and Brownstown Nazarene Church have organized the performance.

Tickets cost $6 in advance and $7 at the door. Tickets will be available through 5 p.m. Thursday.

For information, visit mish-inc.com or call 513-459-7268. You also may call Pastor Brian Richard of Brownstown Christian Church or Associate Pastor Doug Pogue at 812-358-4172.

Each of the churches have been given several tickets to hand out to “at-risk” young people.
