Seymour High School junior Hannah Kaufman won the individual state championship at the Indiana High School Bowling state finals Saturday at Arrowhead Bowl in Lafayette.
In the singles division, Kaufman started her day by bowling a 577 to finish fourth in the preliminaries to advance to the finals.
Kaufman defeated No. 3 seed Breanna Gibbons of Frankfort 202-145 and No. 2 Tabitha Dawson of Lafayette Jefferson 187-186 to set up a finals pairing against Jasper’s Mel Kiefer.
In the final matchup, Kaufman triumphed 178-157.
Kaufman finished fourth in the state tournament last year and is the first bowler to claim a state title from Seymour.
