Speedway hosts first points night

BROWNSTOWN _- The P3 Graphix Indiana Late Model Series Pro Late Models and Brownstown Speedway opened the season Saturday night with the first championship points racing event of 2016.One 130 entries filled the pit area for the evening.Marty O’Neal (Spencer) captured the first P3 Graphix ILMS Pro Late Model feature for 2016. He was followed by Britan Godsey, Steve Barnett, Steve Godsey and Edgar Godsey.

Victor Lee (Danville, Kentucky) got the feature win in the UMP Modified division.

Jason Hehman (Brownstown) would get the first Woolston Automotive Super Stock feature of the year.

Dalton Fleenor (Little York) raced his way to a Staff Management Pure Stock feature win, his first ever feature win at Brownstown Speedway.

Wesley Napier (New Washington) took home the first Pewter Hall Hornet division feature win for the year.

Trinity Lutheran wins season opener

Trinity Lutheran’s softball team scored eight runs in the second inning and rolled over Orleans 13-2 in five innings in its season-opener at home Monday afternoon.The Cougars pounded out 11 hits with Savannah Harwager getting three and Morgan Gabbard two.Taylor Reynolds had four RBI and Jodi Goecker and Harwager scored three runs apiece.

Gabbard was the winning pitcher as she allowed one hit, struck out seven and walked two.

GIRLS TENNIS

Cougars drop first tennis match

AUSTIN — Trinity Lutheran’s tennis team lost its opening match of the season 5-0 at Austin on Monday afternoon.Courtney Baker lost 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 2 singles to win the only set for the Cougars.At No. 1 doubles Olivia Benter and Lauren Voss lost 7-5, 6-1 and the No. 2 doubles tandem of Leah Stuckwisch and Kelly Adams fell 6-4, 6-3.

Crothersville falls to Seymour JV

Seymour’s junior varsity baseball team topped Crothersville 23-1 Monday afternoon at Seymour’s American Legion Field in five innings.Ty McCory led the Seymour offense with three hits, three runs and three RBI.Jesse Fink had a double and an RBI for Crothersville. His double drove in Logan Collins.

Zach Carpenter was the winning pitcher while Trevor Peters took the loss for Crothersville.
