Kenneth Lee “Kenny” Burris Sr., 58, of Seymour passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016, at IU Health in Indianapolis.
Born Dec. 6, 1957, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of Albert L. and Alta L. Strieble Burris, both of whom survive in Goshen, Kentucky. On Nov. 29, 1980, in Dwight, Illinois, he married Cinda O’Neal who survives.
Kenny worked for R.R. Donnelly in Dwight, Illinois, for 19 years before being transferred to Seymour, where he worked another 10 years. He then worked for a few years in the environmental department at Columbus Regional Health. He also was a self-employed handyman and enjoyed working on projects both at home and for other people. He also enjoyed cooking and grilling out and cherished his time at home with his friends and family.
Other survivors include his children, Kenneth L. “Kenny” Burris Jr. of Columbus and Eric and Meta Burris of Jonesville; grandchildren, Vivee and Winston; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, George and Terry O’Neal of Dwight, Illinois; and sister-in-law, Tammy (Bernie Kelleher) Jameson and of Dwight, Illinois. He also leaves behind his Jack Russell, Spot.
A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service Sunday.
Following the services a dinner will be at the Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre.
Memorials may be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation or St. Jude Children Research Hospital.
