Columbus City Band will present a spring concert at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Nugent-Custer Performance Hall at The Commons, 300 Washington St., Columbus.

The band, chartered in 1843, will play a variety of music, including overtures, marches, instrumental features and pop classics.

All of the band’s concerts are free and open to the public.

Steve McGrew, who retired as Seymour High School’s director of bands in 2001, has been director of the Columbus City Band since 1995.

The band also features many musicians from Jackson County, including Kristin Bear, Lois Bryden, Beth Slaton, Jessica Vogel, Diane Brown, Bob Strothmann, Jennifer Richard, Ed Kern, Dick Parman, Richard Branaman, Jacob Gambrel, Monica Doty, Ron Duncan and Doug Pogue.
