Schedule changes, cancellations

A number of scheduled sporting events involving Jackson County schools were moved or cancelled due to inclement weather for today.

Trinity Lutheran’s doubleheader baseball game against Hauser is cancelled without a set makeup date.

The Cougars’ softball team will now play their doubleheader with Shoals on May 7 and the tennis team will take on the Brown County Invitational on April 30.

Seymour’s softball game at Jeffersonville has been rescheduled to May 17.

Owls girls tennis will not play in the Bloomington Invitational today.

Boys golf

Tigers compete at Westwood

SCOTTSBURG — The Crothersville golf team combined for 253 strokes on nine holes in a three-way match at Westwood Golf Course on Friday.

Scottsburg placed first, with 173 points and Rock Creek totaled 240.

Carter Bowles, of Scottsburg, was medalist carding a 39 (+4).

Tyler Luedeman shot a 47, Jacob James had 67, Will Amick 60 and Brandon Riley 70 for the Tigers.

Baseball

Braves offense falters at Providence

CLARKSVILLE — The Brownstown Central baseball team had just two hits in a 6-0 loss at Providence on Thursday.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Pioneers amassed five runs in the fifth.

On the mound Austin Green was charged with the loss, pitching 3 2/3 innings.

The Pioneers had four hits in the game, capitalizing on five walks.

Defensively, the Braves had just one error in the game.

Monday the Braves (1-1) will play at North Harrison.
