Two local residents were arrested on drug-related charges after a traffic stop near Muscatatuck County Park.

Katrina M. Roush, 26, the driver, was arrested on felony charges of dealing in methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, said Sgt. Andrew Richmond, North Vernon Police Department spokesman.

A passenger, Kimlynn D. Patton, 37, was arrested on charges of misdemeanor false informing, felony possession of a syringe and for a warrant for probation revocation, Richmond said.

At about 11:52 p.m. Friday, North Vernon police officer Miles Courtney stopped the two when he saw their vehicle entering the county park after hours, Richmond said. Courtney waited for the vehicle to leave and saw a car-registration violation before stopping the vehicle.

Patton initially lied about his identity and gave Courtney an identification card belonging to another person, Richmond said. There was an active warrant pending for Patton’s arrest and officers found a syringe on Patton when searching him, Richmond said.

Roush had 7.5 grams of methamphetamine, 3 grams of marijuana and .5 gram of cocaine, packaging materials and digital scales, Richmond said.

Roush is being held in the Jennings County Jail in lieu of $1,055 bond, jail officials said.

Patton is being held in the jail in lieu of $1,055 bond for the warrant, and an additional $2,055 bond for the additional charges, jail officials said.
