Friends and Neighbors Extension Homemakers Club

Donna Patterson recently served as hostess for Friends and Neighbors Extension Homemakers Club.Guests were welcomed with the song, “Singing in the Rain,” as they arrived, and Patterson served an array of her homemade specialties.

Election of officers was conducted and those who will be serving for the new year, beginning in July are Ruby Niccumm president; Donna Abner, vice president; Ruth Bateman, secretary with Helen Lutes as her winter substitute; Patterson, treasurer; Lutes, devotion leader; Shirley Sears, song leader; Louise Cox, continuing education; Martha McIntire, leadership development; and Rhonda Kidwell, volunteer community support.

Roll call was answered by members telling of a kite-flying event they recalled.

McIntire shared devotions from Front Porch Classroom using 1 Peter 4:8, which says, “Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another because love covers a multitude of sins.”

Information was shared about the 2016 Home and Family Conference to be June 13, 14 and 15 at the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel.

County Achievement Night will be May 12 at Camp Pyoca Conference and Retreat Center. Tickets must be purchased by April 30. Dinner will begin at 6:40 p.m.

The program will feature speaker Sally Acton and comedian Karen Beaumont. Members and clubs will be recognized and cultural arts will be exhibited and judged.
