William J. “Bill” Hilderbrand, 88, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born Nov. 26, 1927, in Robinson, Illinois, he was the son of Arthur Alonzo Hilderbrand and Nannie Rose McAndrews Hilderbrand. On March 15, 1947, he married Helen Richardson, who survives.
William was a United State Navy veteran who was discharged in July 1946. Most of his life, he was an employee at Arvin Industries, but he also worked as a school custodian for many years following his time with Arvin. He was a member of Easyville Church of Jesus Christ and a honorary member of the church at Hickory Grove.
Other survivors include his children, Alice Arnelle (Ronald) Standiford, Faye Doyle, June (Todd) Raper, Vesta Seville and William Harold Hilderbrand; brothers, Kenneth Hilderbrand and George Hilderbrand; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers; a grandson, Jerry Lee May Jr.; and a stepgrandson, Shawn Doyle.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Easyville Church of Jesus Christ, with Pastor Jean Pogue officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery with military rites.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.
